We are open as normal with both our stores today despite the snow! Our Four Marks store currently has reasonable access with the A31 moving slowly but freely. Our Petersfield store is not quite so lucky, traffic coming up Bell Hill from town was moving freely at 9.00 but some vehicles were beginning to struggle but the road is still open and we’ve seen several snowploughs already this morning.

The 2013 season of Vacansoleil-DCM team, equipped with Bianchi Oltre XR bikes, started officially at EYE, a cinema museum and theatre in Amsterdam (Netherlands), on Wednesday,January 9th. The official presentation was opened by the images of Marco Marcato‘s victory in Paris-Tours and the striking stage win of Thomas De Gendt on Stelvio’s top at Giro d’Italia, two of the unforgettable moments for Dutch team and Bianchi Oltrebikes in 2012. Salvatore Grimaldi, Founder and CEO of the Grimaldi Industry and Bianchi Chairman and Bianchi CEO Bob Ippolito, attended the event together with the Bianchi team liaison staff to confirm the ongoing collaboration between Bianchi and Vacansoleil-DCM. The Dutch team will face the new 2013 World Tour season with a 29-rider roster, including Spaniard Juan Antonio Flecha, on saddle of the new Oltre XR, Bianchi’s monocoque carbon frame designed for extreme performance and developed with Vacansoleil-DCM riders. Thanks to the combination of UMS40 and CN60 Ultra High Modulus carbon fibers, the Oltre XR features 30gr weight reduction and 20% increased rigidity compared to Oltre model. The extreme rigidity to weight ratio of the new Oltre XR provides optimal climbing performance while the aero shape of the frame assures the highest speeds in both flat and downhill sections. Bianchi provides Androni Giocattoli Venezuela team and their Italian Champion Franco Pellizotti with the new empowered Sempre Pro carbon bike for 2013 season.
Latest evolution of the Sempre model, featuring Bianchi’s special racing geometry, the Sempre Pro carbon monocoque frame is part of B4P (Born for Performance) family, engineered to combine stiffness with lightweight.
“I tested my new Sempre Pro frame in December and the main thing I appreciated was the stiffness of the bike, something which is also visible from the larger diameter of the new massive down-tube and the oversized chain stay”, Pellizotti says. “The bike is light and rides smoothly but when you jump on the pedals, especially on the climbs, it is incredibly reactive and shows all its racing spirit – something which I truly love from Bianchi”.
The use of Carbon Nano Technology makes the Sempre frame extremely rigid and the reduced tube section of the seat stays (UTSS – Ultra Thin Seat Stay Technology) contributes to weight reduction while improving shock absorption and power transmission. “My new Sempre Pro is exactly the bike I was looking for: it reflects my characteristics and the geometry is pure racing”, Pellizotti adds.
Franco Pellizotti’s Sempre Pro bike is full mat black colored with aggressive tricolore inserts to match his Italian Champion jersey. The rest of the Androni Venezuela team ride a Celeste model shaded red and black.

2013 has started with whispers that Owen is going racing again. His ancient Scott Strike has been dusted off so look out for him at local events this year. Jon has also dusted off his bike and is hoping to get fit enough to enter a couple of mtb races, maybe even some road races, towards the end of the year.
